21 Hours Trip from KL to Penang back to KL

As crazy as the title sounds but yes it was real and we made it safe and sound! We traveled more than 1000km in a day just to eat Penang Char Kuey Teow... nah I'm just kidding!

...before I start, I am gonna warn you people; there will be loads of pictures ahead. Be sure to not use up all your quota :)

It was Monday morning as early as 5am when we departed. Yeap, if you know how congested KL is especially on Monday, then you know why we were up that early was to escape the hustle. However, when we touched down the highway, the world was ours LOL! Technically, we were the only car in the highway for the first 2 -3 hours.

Plus point is there are absolutely beautiful landscapes along the highway. I don't know about you but I totally have a thing with landscape. There are lots of hills, greens, waterfall, bridges and simply nature. Too bad I am not a professional photographer. With a car moving at120km/h, it's hard to snap a great shot for an amateur. Some pictures below are my master piece. Raw and original, no touch and edit. So, no judge! And yes, it is way far more amazing when you see it with your own eyes.

Halfway to Penang, we couldn't miss the famous Ipoh white coffee too! Have you heard of Old Town White Coffee? It is apparently the largest kopi tiam chain in Malaysia which is home at Ipoh. Unlike the rest of Old Town outlets where the restaurant has already modernized, the original Old Town is rather old and authentic. Kedai Makanan Nam Heong, it is where Old Town White Coffee first served since 1948. I am not a coffee drinker, so I only tried a sip and don't bother to ask me "How is it?!". Also, if you are Old Town Chicken Hor Fun's lover just like I do, don't expect to order it from here because they do not sell Old Town outlet's food just like what you can find outside.

Instead, you can order choices of food from the food stalls inside the shop. I tried their Prawn Mee and it was so so so so delicious! Not sure if I was too hungry but this meal was abit inappropriate for a breakfast but who cares.

Speaking of truth, my friends told me the original Ipoh Old Town White Coffee had no significant different with what you can drink outside. You can even drink it at home if you buy the Old Town package. Guess they have perfected their recipes :)

Address:
Nam Heong Coffee Shop / Old Town White Coffee
2 Jalan Bandar Timah
Ipoh, Perak

I dosed off after I had my breakfast and woke up with this view. This is the new Second Penang Bridge that just opened for public earlier March 2014. With total length of 24 km, this bridge became the longest bridge in Southeast Asia. Read more about the bridge here Read here. It is a lot more interesting than I thought.

And yes... the classic famous Penang Bridge that I failed to capture -_-

We finally touched down Penang at 11/12ish because we made a wrong big turn that led us back to Penang Bridge LOL! #besttripever!

First thing first, FOOD!! We visited that famous Penang Pasar Air Itam Laksa. I personally love the laksa because it was spicy and sour. You see that transparent container served in the middle? It was Sugar. So I guess you can add on sugar if you cannot resist the spiciness.

Laksa: RM4/ bowl
Sugarcane: honestly forget
Business hours: 10.30am - 7pm

Dear the girl in the picture, thanks for noticing my camera :)

3 - 5 minutes walking distance further down the market, we also visited that famous Curry of Elderly Siblings. I absolutely love this Curry. The taste lingered on my tongue. Not only spicy but also the thick rich soup paste that really stand out compare to the other curry out there for me.

They do not really have a proper shop name or sign or space but this.

You can read more about their story here Read here

Will come back for this I swear! :)
Curry: RM3/ bowl

After stuffing our stomach, it was time to explore the famous Penang Street Art. Before I move on, I just want to say PENANG WAS INCREDIBLY HOTTT!!! Make sure to stay hydrated and bring a bottle of water before you pass out :|

It was so hot and we were all squeezing our body juice out, literally. While I still had not completed my mission to find one more famous street art, Children on the Swing. Must find this next time I visit Penang!

We finally gave up and decided to move on to Gurney Paragon, the seafront Penang shopping mall to chill.

isn't this design lovely...

It was around 4ish pm, the right time to go for yumcha (tea time). We sat down at this cafe called Miam Miam because it was quite unique for us as compare to their neighborhood; Ben's, Starbucks, Morganfields, Italiannies.

Honestly, though the smell of their pasta were really tempting and the pictures of their dessert first caught my eyes, the prices were quite pricey. I did not try anything signature but Ice Chocolate.

The day was getting dark and it was almost time to leave Penang. But before that, of course we couldn't miss the most commercialized food at Penang. Yes, you can eat this food almost everywhere in the world, Penang Char Kuey Teow. It is also hard to decide which shop has the best Penang Char Kuey Teow. But we ended up at this shop called Kafe Heng Huat at Lorong Selamat. What amazed me was their huge prawn. We can barely find Penang Char Kuey Teow at KL shop that serves this size of prawn. It was RM9/ plate, slightly expensive compare to the other Char Kuey Teow shop at Penang, but I could say their portion size was worthy.

Last but not least, we visited The Straits Quay where mostly cafes and restaurants lay. And this shall finish my long overdue post :) Hope you enjoy it.

xx, Jessy

We left Penang at 6/7pm and stopped by Tambun to have seafood as our dinner. On the way back, there was a super heavy rain that caused flood in the highway near Slim River area. Luckily, Waze showed us an alternative road to go back or else we would stuck in the jam for 8 hours (as what the newspaper stated). We made it back home at 2am and it felt like we just came back for an adventure :) #besttripever

Taylor's Convocation Day

After 3 years of hard works and sweats, I finally earned my Bachelor Degree in International Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Honours). My university life was such a roller coaster ride. I bet a lot of you feel the same with me. The assignments, the friendships, trips and parties, not to mention the arguments we had had stronger our bonds and made us a better person. It might be the end of our university life, no more last minute assignments, no more sleeping in the class, no more late night studying, no more skipping classes, no more fighting for a car park!, no more chasing the goose (well at least for me), no more parties to celebrate completed assignments and this might be the last time we will meet each other. I feel very grateful to meet every single one of you throughout this journey from my group mate, class mate, house mate, school mate, and last but not least my cell group. It was sure a bittersweet moment but remember that we have all unlocked our next level life's achievement and ready to kick the next one.

Last but not least,
Thank you TAYLORS

One fine day

It was as early as 5.30am, Indonesian time when I had to wake up and get ready for a casual photo shoot. I was asked by a friend of mine to be his talent for a Korean themed photo shoot a day before. I was kind of excited because I often saw his photo works from my friend's instagram. She is actually one of his talent, too. Ok before I talk craps... Let me just show you some of the pictures.

Quality time with my little brother

So ever since I bought a new camera, I almost bring this baby to everywhere I go. I have always wanted to learn how to take beautiful pictures but I just don't have the inside skills. Well.. just need to get the hang of it for a while.

In fact, my little brother is way more interested and curious to take pictures than me now. I often asked him to take a picture of me using my iPhone camera but he always sighed and ignored me instead! However, he always got his hands on my new camera since I bought it. He even told me he wants to be professional photographer LOL!  If this happens to you girls, you know what to do HAHAHA *evil laugh*

Bro: I want to be a professional photographer! I think I take a few decent pictures!
Me: Hmm.. You can start with me as your model

Bro: Alright then! How are you gonna take pictures?
Me: The peace Asian sign of course!

Bro: Oh that's lame! Pose like those super models! Pretend you are as tall as them!
Me: Ok lemme just tiptoe.

Bro: Change background!
Me: Oh I think I look good in that pose! Lemme do that again!

Me: Oh no! What's wrong with my cheeks!! It's too chubby! Retake pleasee!!

Me: Oh maayyn! It cant be possible! My cheeks are too chubby!
Bro: Arrghh! I'm tired just edit 'em big cheeks. This is the last one.
